Case Study: Delilah’s Story – Healing Old Wounds Through Animal Energy Work
The Request
A concerned mom reached out and asked if I could connect with her beloved dog, Delilah, to see if she was in pain. Delilah, a German Shepherd–Husky mix and now an older dog, had been showing subtle signs of discomfort—but she’s also a good “hider.” Because they live in another state, I worked with her remotely (which, in many cases, is just as powerful, if not more so, than in-person sessions).
Connecting with Delilah
As always, I began by reaching out with my heart energy to introduce myself, explain why I was there, and—most importantly—ask her permission. (Whether human or animal, I always seek permission before beginning any work.)
At first, Delilah was hesitant. She wasn’t sure of my purpose. Once I explained that her mom was worried she might be in pain, and that if we confirmed it, her mom would make sure she received medicine to help her feel better, she allowed me in.
When I asked about her physical state, Delilah told me her hips and joints hurt, but that it wasn’t overwhelming for her.
What She Shared
Once Delilah understood we were here to help, she opened up in a very vulnerable way. She began sharing emotional pain from her puppyhood.
She told me she wasn’t treated well as a young dog—often left hungry, frightened of being hit, and unsure if she was safe or loved. “I’m a nice girl,” she said. “I smile, and I have a big heart. Why didn’t they like me?”
When I shared this with her mom, she confirmed Delilah’s story. Delilah had originally been sold to a family, but under the breeder’s agreement, families were required to allow drop-in visits and send photos to ensure the puppies were cared for. Early on, they saw pictures that concerned them, so they reclaimed Delilah, refunded the money, and brought her back home—where she has stayed with her true family ever since.
The Healing Process
We worked together to release much of the pain she carried, especially in her hips and lower body. I reminded her of the love, safety, and joy she has experienced since being HOME. Together, we lightened the heaviness she had been holding for so long.
Then Delilah said, “While you’re here, can we talk about something else that makes me sad?” Of course, I said yes.
She shared that she misses the many animals who have been part of her life and have since passed. She didn’t carry pain around them—only love, and a bit of sadness. As her parents live on a ranch, she’s had many siblings over the years, and she joyfully told me stories about them.
Messages for Her Family
Before we closed, Delilah asked me to pass along two important messages to her parents:
How to notice her pain – She said, “If I’m in pain, it shows in my breathing and heartbeat. If you think something is wrong, listen closely, and you’ll notice a difference.”
Her wish for more connection – “I want more cuddle time from both my parents. More hugs, more kisses, more love.”
Her mom laughed, sharing that just the day before, she had gotten down on the ground to spend time with Delilah, realizing it had been too long. I gently told her Delilah would love that from both parents.
Reflections
I thanked Delilah for trusting me, for sharing her heart, and for allowing me to witness her vulnerability. Her smile and her heart are just as big and beautiful as she described.
Delilah’s story is a reminder that our animals carry not just physical discomfort, but also deep emotional histories. By connecting with them through energy work, we can support them in releasing old pain and opening up to more love, safety, and joy.
At Humble Heart Healing, I offer Reiki and energy work for both humans and animals—whether in person or at a distance. Delilah’s journey is one of many that show how powerful and transformative this work can be.
